LaDara Combs

LaDara Combs passed from this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at her home surrounded by family at the age of 101.

LaDara was born on August 10, 1923, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Georgie and James Dauphus Moss while the family was on a trip harvesting crop. After some traveling around to different states, LaDara and her family settled in Oklahoma for work. Life was hard growing up with seven siblings, but her family worked hard for one another to make a living.

LaDara met and fell head over heels in love with Norman Combs. They were united in marriage on December 28, 1940 in Cushing, OK. Not long after being married, Norman was drafted into World War II. Together they were blessed with five children: Don, Larry, Mike, Sherry, and Norma. Even though jobs were scarce, LaDona made sure the family was happy by doing what she could to help the kids well fed and making sure all needs were met.

Later years became easier for LaDara and Norman; they were able to travel to Branson and Roaring River, Missouri, as well as to Colorado with their kids and grandkids. When Norman developed Alzheimer’s, LaDara stood by her husband’s side, taking care of him for ten years. LaDara and Norman enjoyed 60 years of marriage.

LaDara is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman E. Combs; daughter Norma Gail Walters; son Donald Gene Combs; five sisters; two brothers; and numerous other relatives. She is survived by her sons, Michael Combs, Larry Combs and his wife, Judy; her daughter, Sherry Ackin; son-in-law Jackie Walters; daughter-in-law Terri Combs; her grandsons, Jack Walters, Curtis Walters (Kim), Scott Walters (Stacy), Brian Combs (Candace), Jason Combs (Shannen), Shawn Jones (Laura), Chris Combs (Sandy), Richard Combs (Jessica), William Combs, Nick Combs (Larrisa), and Kindley and Daniel Holliday; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
