Cushing has hired former Newcastle assistant girls basketball coach Jake Phillips as the head coach of the Tiger girls basketball team.
Phillips is replacing coach Brian Busby, who has accepted an administrative position at Cushing Middle School.
Phillips is a 2006 graduate of Alva High School and he attended Northwest Oklahoma State University, majoring in health and sports sciences and education.
