Marvin “Darrell” Lake was born to Durrell Kennedy and Roy Lake in Lubbock Texas on August 26th, 1938. Darrell was a longtime resident of Cushing. He passed away January 28, 2021 with his family by his side.
Darrell left school at the early age of 16 and married Gladys and to this union was Jimmy, Ronnie, & Connie Lake. Darrell enlisted in the Army.
Eventually, Darrell married the love of life, Jackie and to this Union was two stepdaughters, Darla and Darcy Meents that he has always thought of as his own. Shortly after was the birth of their daughter Johna. Darrell and Jackie settled down in Red Bluff, California where Darrell was a Firefighter. After a few years they moved to Redding, California where Darrell was a Firefighter and the Assistant Fire Chief. He moved up in his career as a California State Fire Marshall. This required some traveling and eventually a move to Sacramento, California. Another promotion brought Darrell to his final position as a California State Arson Investigator where he worked until his retirement in the 1980’s. Darrell had an interesting and full life of firefighting, investigating, and law enforcement work. He and Jackie were retired and living in Citrus Heights, California when they decided to move out to Oklahoma in August of 1994 right after Johna and her family had moved to Cushing. Darrell loved playing guitar as well as singing and listening to country music. He loved playing cards and spending time with his family.
He enjoyed going to Crossway Church for the past five years since it opened and loved everyone there. He enjoyed spending time with his friends there and playing music when he had a chance to.
His morning routine was going to Bills EZ Out every single morning. He would set his alarm for 3:00am to be down there to spend time with people and help anyway he could. He just loved people!
He loved each and every one of his grandchildren. Unfortunately, he just wasn’t around all of them, but he still loved every one of them equally!!!
