Wynnona Lea Rist was born June 10, 1933 to George and Wilma Simpson in Yale, Oklahoma. She departed this life May 19, 2021 at the age of 87.
On June 4, 1949 Wynnona Lea Simpson and Raymond Henry Rist were united in marriage. From this union were born four children, Wesley, James, Joanne and Joyce. They enjoyed 61 years together before his passing November 22, 2010.
Wynnona was a faithful member of the Cushing First Baptist Church. She worked for the United States Postal Service in Newkirk, starting as a mail carrier and eventually retiring as Postmaster.
She enjoyed quilting very much. She has made hundreds of quilts in her life. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling.
She is survived by three children, Wesley Rist and wife Laura, Joanne Taylor, Joyce Harwick and husband Mel; fi ve siblings, Marjorie Kelley, Molly Dotson, Maxine Wolff , Keith Simpson and wife Joyce and Kay Smith; seven grandchildren, Jason Rist and wife Lillie, Candice Martin and husband Nathan, Danny Taylor and wife Deanna, Ed Storm and wife Katie, Justin Storm and wife April, Wendy Henninger and husband Joseph, Dustin Storm and wife Treva; Numerous great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, James Rist; grandson, Jeff ery Taylor; one son in law, James Taylor; two brothers, Hobert and Elmer Ray Simpson; one sister, Ann Raper.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00am, Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Cushing First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Martin offi ciating. Interment will follow at the Maramec Cemetery in Maramec, Oklahoma. Funeral services are under the direction of Matherly Davis Funeral Home.
