James Rex Hargrave (Jim), 65, born in San Antonio, Texas, resided in Cushing Oklahoma, passed away on August 13, 2021. He was surrounded by his friends and loved ones at the time of his passing.
James was predeceased by father, Bobby Rex Hargrave and mother, Janell Moon Hargrave. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, June Hargrave; sisters, Cynthia Hargrave, Becky Hargrave Koch (Marc Koch), Marla Hargrave, Melanie Hargrave Miller (Anthony Miller), Janine Hargrave Warmowski (Joseph Warmowski), Suzanne Hargrave and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his beloved yellow lab, Flash.
As a young man James worked towards his mechanical engineering degree and served in the United States Airforce as an Aerospace Control Warning Systems Operator-Air Traffic Control Specialist. James was dedicated to OSU as their Facilities Manager for the College of Veterinarian Medicine for 29 years. He received several honors for outstanding service including two prestigious Stratton Staff Awards and was admitted into the Honorary Doctor of Veterinarian Facilities Management degree.
James was an avid outdoors sportsman who spent much of his time in nature. His favorite areas included deep sea fishing, deer, and duck hunting. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bass Federation and ranked in the State’s Top Champions. He fished and placed in multiple tournaments such as the Cimmaron Valley Tournament, Bass Masters Tournaments, BFL Tournaments from 1996 to 2008 and many more. He never lacked for fishing buddies which included the infamous Saltwater Cowboys.
Memorial Service will be held at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 4:00 pm.
