Sandra was born in Stroud, OK to Relfe Thompson Woodruff and Clara Celestia (Haney) Woodruff . Her childhood years were spent in Oklahoma and Indiana before graduating from Stroud High School in 1955. After graduation, she received nursing training for three years at Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association near Boston, MA. After nursing school, she moved to Princeton, NJ, where she provided nursing care at a mental health facility. Then in 1962, she moved to Bathford, England where she worked in a nursing facility. On her days off , she was able to travel with friends extensively in Britain and occasionally visit several countries in Europe. In 1965, she accepted an off er to work in a private home providing nursing care for a few patients in Mendham, NJ, which resulted in her returning to the U.S. on the famous ocean liner RMS Queen Mary. She then met her future husband, Charles Moore, who was a beverage salesman making a delivery to her place of employment. They were married in Mount Tabor, NJ in 1966, and made their home for several years in the Lake Mohawk community of Sparta, NJ. In 1975, they moved to Drumright, OK, where her brother Garland resided. While in Drumright, she was very active in her church and volunteered in her children’s extracurricular activities throughout their school years. She enjoyed reading, baking, and spending time with her family, friends, and relatives. Sandra was known by those who met her as a sweet lady and a great listener, opening her heart to anyone in need. Over the years, it was not unusual for someone to ask her if she could be their second mom. After suff ering complications from back surgery several years ago, she would encourage others by saying: “You are stronger than you think you are.” She certainly lived by those words by demonstrating tremendous courage and strength. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Charles; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Mark Wardrop of Houston, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Vernon, and Christy Moore of Oklahoma City, OK; grandson, Robert Moore of Holtville, CA; granddaughter, Sarah Wardrop of Houston, TX; and many dear relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph, and Garland Woodruff ; and a sister, Clara “Cissy” Williams In honor of Sandra’s memory, please always express patience, kindness and love for one another.
