Verna Faye Ledgerwood, 82, longtime resident of Cushing passed from this earth to her heavenly home on September 5, 2021. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Verna Faye was born on July 26, 1939, to Bryan and Earlena Harmon in Cushing, Oklahoma. Verna grew up in the Cushing area and graduated from Cushing High School with the Class of 1957.
Verna married the love of her life, William “Bill” Ledgerwood on October 30, 1958, in Cushing. Together they started a family and successful business after moving back to Oklahoma from Texas. They settled in Cushing in 1965 to raise their family of two daughters, Brenda and Sharon. Verna was a faithful member of Cushing First Assembly of God since 1965. She served in numerous roles there throughout the years including being the lady’s leader for many years. Many remember Verna from her years working at Walmart until her retirement.
She lived an incredible life, loving her family and friends while serving her Lord and Savior. She instilled in her children and grandchildren that a life well lived is best lived walking with Christ and showing others the way through action.
Verna is preceded in death by her husband Bill Ledgerwood; daughter, Sharon Lane; son in law, Elton Willard; two brothers, Gene Harmon and Lawrence Harmon.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Willard; son-in-law Jeff Lane and wife Terry; siblings, Doris Walters, Ruby and husband Ken Parnell, Roy and wife JoAnn Harmon, Darrell and wife Sara Harmon, Carol and husband Jayson Dobson, Margaret Bryant, and sister-in-law Debbie Harmon; grandchildren, Melissa and husband Kyle Vance, Brent and wife Sarah Willard, Nick and wife Jenn Lane, and Sara Lane; fi ve greatgrandchildren, Braden, Cooper, Hudson, Grace, and Declan; as well as numerous extended family and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Cushing First Assembly of God with Pastors Will Jenkins and Robert Adams offi ciating.
