Emma Lou Hensley • November 6, 1938 – October 20, 2021

Emma Lou (Russell) Hensley, age 82 passed peacefully from this life on October 20, 2021 in Stroud, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be Monday, October 25, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Yale. The viewing will be at the church on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00p.m.

Emma Lou (Russell) Hensley, was born November 6, 1938 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Willis Vernon Russell Jr. and Agnes Cleo (Miller) Russell.

After graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1957, she attended Draughons School of Business in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was there that she met the love of her life, Carl Wayne Hensley. The two were married, September 7, 1958 at the Presbyterian Church in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Lou began her career as an insurance agent at Jones Insurance Agency in Yale, where she remained for 32 years. After leaving the insurance business she then went to work for The Yale Clinic, as a receptionist.

Lou was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was lovingly referred to as “Miss Lou”. She was a member of the choir and thoroughly enjoyed singing. Her greatest joy as a Sunday school teacher was to share the stories of Jesus and his teachings. She said that the children inspired her faith. She is survived by her 3 chil

She is survived by her 3 children, Cynthia Jean (Hensley) White and husband Mike, Russell Wayne Hensley, and Carl Willis Hensley and wife Bonnie, all of Yale. Two grandchildren, Micah Denae ( White )Gardner and husband Billy, of Mustang, OK. And Jason Edward White, of Amarillo, TX. Three great grandchildren, Aiden Lawson, Ella Gardner, & Elijah (Eli) Gardner of Mustang. Her sister, Janice K Williams of Edmond and, Brother-in-law, Roy Hensley and wife Cathy, of Longview, TX. Two nieces, Natalie Williams Bell and Nicole Williams Streich. Two nephews, Bradley Williams and Bryan Hensley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and, her loving husband of 62 years Carl Wayne Hensley.

Internment will be at the Lawson Cemetery in Yale following the service.

In lieu of flowers they family is requesting donations to the 1st United Methodist Church of Yale for the “Hensley Stained Glass Memorial Fund”.
