David Lee Ward, 69, of Drumright, OK went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2022.
Dave was born September 17, 1952 to Glenn and Patty Ward in Winfi eld, KS. As a child, David grew up in Caldwell and Anthony, KS, enjoying many sports, like track and fi eld, baseball and football. Dave graduated Anthony High School in 1970. He continued his education at Eldorado Junior College, followed by Wesley Medical Center Nursing School, ultimately graduating as a CRNA.
Dave met Debora Becker while working at Wesley Medical Center, where they married a couple years later in the hospital chapel on May 7, 1976. After marriage, Dave and Debbie moved to Oklahoma and later Missouri where they raised their family. Dave was unendingly proud of his children Matthew, Kyle, and Melinda and always supported them. He loved his spirited grandkids who made him laugh and kept him young and on his toes.
In his leisure time, Dave enjoyed woodworking and carving. He liked making bluebird houses, turning wooden bowls and whittling faces. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and cheered them on in all three Busch Stadiums. He cherished horseback riding, boating and fi shing with family and friends.
Dave was saved at 9 years old and a loyal servant to God. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff , MO, Cape Bible Chapel and Cowboy Church in Cape Girardeau, MO, and First Baptist Church in Cushing, OK. He spent countless hours studying his Bible and preparing to teach his Sunday school lessons.
Survivors include: his wife of over 45 years, Debora of Drumright, OK; son, Matthew Ward and wife Jonna, of Boyd, TX; son Kyle Ward and wife Theresa, of Lebanon, MO; daughter Mindy Guerrero of Yukon, OK; fi ve grandchildren, Tiff ani Ward, Jacob Ward, Jayden Guerrero, Leland Ward, and Gehrig Ward. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Gerberding.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00A.M., Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Cushing First Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Martin offi ciating. Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Cemetery. In lieu of fl owers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Children’s Playground fund.
