Douglas Keith Hunter

December 5, 1957 - January 11, 2022

Douglas Keith Hunter passed from this world and into the arms of Jesus on January 11, 2022.

Keith was born on December 5, 1957 in Hugo, Oklahoma to John and Virginia Hunter. He grew up in Hugo and graduated from Hugo High School in 1976. After high school, Keith began working alongside his father before finding a job at Brown and Root in Enid, OK. While working in Enid, he met Mindy Wood and the two married and settled in Cushing, OK. Keith and Mindy had three children together and were married for 19 years.

Keith worked for Black Gold in Cushing and also served as a member of the Cushing Police Reserves. After an injury on the job, he went back to school and discovered his true passion in nursing. He spent the majority of his RN career as an OR Manager at both Cushing and Drumright hospitals. It wasn’t until working at Cushing Hospital that he met the love of his life, Lynnette. They have now been married 13 years and enjoy their large family filled with grandchildren.

Keith is survived by his wife Lynnette of the home; brother Bryan and sisters Theresa, Mavis, and Melanie of Hugo, Oklahoma; son Patrick Hunter and Pamela Saelieb and their daughter Cadence of California; son Jaden Hunter and wife Kelly and their three children, Henry, Joel, and Oliver of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter Kylie Gaunder and husband Dustin and their daughter Liliana of Oregon; stepdaughter Stacey Meloy and husband Nathan of Cushing and their three children, Korben, Drake, and Mattisyn; step-daughter Cindy Thompson and husband Daniel and their three children, Brock, Brylee, and Briggs of Cushing; step-son Derrick Bryant of Florida; step-son Eddie Saunders of Tulsa, OK; and multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, as well as many beloved friends.

Keith had many hobbies that included fishing and hunting, but he loved spending time with grandchildren more than anything. He and Lynnette are members of First Free Will Baptist Church in Cushing, OK. He loved spending time in the word of God and shared his faith freely, especially as his health declined over the last couple of years. His ultimate wish was that everyone would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and have a personal relationship with Him.

A visitation will be held at the Matherly-Davis Family Center on Sunday January 16, 2022 between the hours of 4 and 7 PM. Services will be Monday January 17, 2022 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma at 2 PM.
