Carmen Evelyn (Hart) Shotwell passed from this life on September 19, 2022, in her home with her daughter by her side. Her care has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma. Carmen was born on October 5, 1927, to Floyd and Myrtle (Hall) Hart. Along with her siblings, she grew up in Cleveland, Oklahoma, then graduated from Terlton High School. She then found the love of her life and married Edward Eugene Shotwell just after he returned home from World War II.
Carmen’s favorite past time was her garden. She spent many hours tending to her plants, picking the fruits of her labors and canning. She reluctantly, but lovingly took care of Carol’s huskies while Carol was away. One of her favorite works was teaching and helping with bible school at Park Place Baptist Church. She always loved to share her love for her Lord.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, her sisters Dorothy Freeman and Ellen Hewitt; her brother Bill Hart; her sister-in-law Sadie Neal and brother-in-law Charlie Shotwell.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Shotwell and her son Daniel Shotwell.
Carmen’s service will be at 10AM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Oklahoma following the service.
