Ross Leon Jamison

Ross Leon Jamison passed from this life at his home on September 27, 2022, at the age of 95. His care has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.

Ross was born on November 3, 1927, to John Henry and Lettie Mae (Smith) Jamison in Fellsburg, Kansas. He was the fifth of six children born to his parents. Ross spent many years moving to multiple cities in Kansas before finally settling in Oklahoma in December of 1970.

Ross married the love of his life, Shirley, on September 15, 1945, and was married to her for 62 years. To their union was born two daughters, Mary and Pat, and two adopted sons, Dean and Larry. Ross began working in the railroad industry and spent the next 40 years dedicating his service to being a signalman for the Santa Fe Railroad. Working for the railroad, Ross was able to take his family on many cross-country trips. Pat remembered many times that her mother would fry up a bunch of chicken, because they raised chickens, and they would board the train and go see family on both sides of the U.S.

Ross was a quiet man who could get lost in his books. He spent many evenings and nights reading and loving to learn. He was a very intelligent man who loved to give of himself to others. He did that by teaching Sunday school, being a Scottish Rights Mason and volunteering at the hospital. Ross spent many hours at the hospital helping others, well into his early 90s.

Ross is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Shirley, his daughter Mary, his son Dean, his grandson Tim Mandeville, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

He has left behind his daughter Pat Thurlow, son Larry Jamison, his 6 grandchildren Clinton and wife Cheri Thurlow, Sean and wife Mikki Thurlow, Jeana and husband David Jonico, Lindsey Breannan, Morgan and wife Madison Jamison and Rob and wife Mary Mandeville, along with 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Services for Ross will be held at 2PM on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Cushing, OK, with Pastor Jim Wilhelm officiating. Interment will be at Euchee Valley Memorial Park following the service.
