George Edward Herring

George was born on October 2nd, 1929 in rural Lincoln County OK to Everet Leroy and Dona Myrtle (Moore) Herring. He passed from this life on January 24th, 2023 in Tulsa at the age of 93.

In 1950 George married Margaret Nicholas. To this union one son, Edward Lindon Herring, was born. Following divorce, George married Allegra “Allie” Carr in 1964. To this union one son, George Henry Herring, was born. In 1970, the family moved to “town” and made Cushing their home.

Earl Gibble offered him a job as a Truck Driver for Gibble Gas, where he was employed for over 13 Years as a Driver and Dispatcher along side his brother Junior. When Mr. Gibble was planning to disperse his transport fleet to other towns, closer to refineries, George took a job with Lionel Harris Oil Co. as a Truck Driver. He maintained that position for over 13 Years also and retired at age 65. After “retirement” he worked as a Truck Driver for Cushing Metals, Elmo Stidham and finally ArnCo Transports.

George enjoyed Quail Hunting as a pastime, he owned and trained his own dogs and took great pride in their abilities. Peg being his alltime favorite with her son Tip running a close second. Many a day was spent in the field with family and friends. Not always intent on “filling the bag” but, satisfied with spending the time outdoors with the people he enjoyed.

George lived as a bachelor for the last 22 plus years of his life. Preferring to live alone and be able to go where and when he pleased. He spent time with both Lin and Henry and their families. He enjoyed attending Natallie and Brecken’s sporting events. He also had the pleasure of welcoming his Great Great Grandson Walker Herring (5th Generation) two years ago.

He is survived by his Sons, Lin Herring (Darlene) and Henry Herring (Shannon). Grandchildren Dee Herring (Todd), Joe Herring (Keri), Natallie Herring and Brecken Herring. Great Grandson Colton Herring (Jordan) and Great Great Grandson Walker Herring. Brother Junior, sisters Artie and Glenda and a host of Nieces, Nephews and relatives.
