Boyd Oscar Whipkey was born March 24th, 1935 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Doshia (Caudle) and Leonard Oscar Whipkey. He passed away at his home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 5 days.
Boyd grew up in the Cushing area where he attended school graduating in 1951. After graduation he found employment and was married to Shirley (Cleveland) on November 24th, 1953. After their marriage they made their home in Cushing, Oklahoma City, and Guthrie, Oklahoma before moving to Cheyenne in 1976. Boyd brought the business he began in 1968 to Cheyenne and continued to own and operate Key Plumbing. Boyd continued to have a strong work ethic up until he wasn’t physically able. When not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling to the mountains, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Vince Whipkey; 1 grandson, Bo Whipkey; 2 brothers, Glen and Quinton Whipkey and 2 sisters, Wilma Flatt and Shirley Boyd.
Boyd is survived by his 3 sons, Tim Whipkey, Cheyenne, OK, Kerry Whipkey and wife, Robyn, Amarillo, TX, and Brian Whipkey and wife, Trish, Cheyenne, OK; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Wilda Thomas, Shawnee, OK and a host of other relatives and friends.
