Leon Graven

Leon Wesley Graven was born April 1, 1927. in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to Earl and Edna Graven. He departed this life on June 6, 2025, at the age of 98 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Syble Barnes. They enjoyed sixty-nine years together, keeping their faith as Jehovah’s Witnesses and raising their three children: Syble, Ronald and Frank.

Leon worked at Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas for nine years. Then they moved to Yale, Oklahoma and built an auto body shop. Through the years, he owned rental properties in Cushing and Drumright, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Graven; son, Ronald Graven; granddaughter, Rhonda Poole and her husband Dan Poole; siblings, Clair Graven, Genevive Blair, Volney Graven and Laura Goben.

He is survived by a daughter, Syble Austin of Yukon, Oklahoma and a son, Frank Graven and his wife, Brenda, of Cushing, Oklahoma; granddaughters, Kandi Johnson and husband, Denny, of Cushing, Oklahoma and Christy Austin of Yukon, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Jordon Poole and wife, Aerial, Gerad Poole, Ashli Hall and husband, Garret, Nicholas Johnson, Kara Kosloski and husband, Ryan; four great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cushing, Oklahoma on June 13, 2025, at 2:00 P.M.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Matherly Davis Funeral Home.
