Mary Louise Smith passed away peacefully, at home with family, in Broken Arrow, OK on February 2, 2024, at the age of 91.
Mary Louise was born January 31, 1933 in Tulsa, OK to the late Roscoe and Anna Ruth Pancoast. Her family lived in Okmulgee, OK, then Yale, OK, prior to moving to Cushing, OK. The families of both Mary Loise and her late husband, J. Lyall moved to Cushing in 1938 where the two of them attended church and school together, and began dating They were married in 19 2, following her high school graduation. They celebrated 68 years of marriage.
They both lived in Indianapolis, IN and Columbia, SC after J. Lyall was drafted into the Army, during which time they began their family. In 19 5, when J. Lyall was discharged, the family returned to Cushing. In 1957, the family moved to Tulsa, where they lived until Carter Oil transferred J. Lyall to Durango, CO in 1959.

1963 where J. Lyall joined Roscoe Pancoast (Mary Louise’s father) in business. They formed the Pancoast & Smith Insurance Agency and Pancoast-Smith Realtors. Through the years, Mary Louise worked in the office, eventually becoming a Real Estate Broker within the agency.
During her lifetime, Mary Louise’s interest included: music, playing bridge, working jigsaw puzzles, entertaining in the home, and camping.
Mary Louise was a long-time and very active member of the First Christian Church everywhere she lived. She served in various capacities, including organist (from HighSchool to recent~ years), Elder, Deacon, Church Board, Youth Sponsor, Youth Advisory council, and DWF/CWF. She joined the Broken Arrow Church when she moved in 2019, where she served as an Elder, and was welcomed, included, encouraged, and loved by the congregation, even though she was only there a few years.
She was also active in the Geographic Club, PEO International, and Cushing Board of Realtors.
Many people turned to Mary Louise for advice and counsel, and she was always available to listen and help in whatever way she could.
Survivors include: her daughter, Pam Truelove and husband, Terry, broken Arrow, OK, Marsha Carruthers, Cushing, OK, and Terri Combs and husband Don, Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, An\\drew Carruthers and wife, Jena (and their children, Asher Lyle and SIoane Becca) Oaks Park, CA, Travis Carruthers, Denver, CO, Brian Carruthers, San Diego, CA, Kara Carruthers, South Jar an, Utah, and Matt Truelove and wife, Jennifer(and their children, Cora and Elu) of Norman, OK. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Roberta (Benefiel) Smith, Bixby, OK, her children and grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
