Billy Paul Haikey, 75, of Cushing, Oklahoma, passed away April 24th in Tulsa Oklahoma.
Bill was born on January 10th 1949 to Billy Joe and Viola Haikey in Haileyville Oklahoma. After graduating from Kiowa High School in 1967 where he excelled both academically and athletically, Bill enlisted in the National Guard. In 1975, Bill started his career with Southwestern Bell, transferring to Cushing in 1978. Bill would go on to work for Southwestern Bell until 1993. Bill was an avid supporter and member of the Cushing FFA & 4H Booster Club.
In 1999, Bill would begin his career with Miller Truck Line where he would remain until 2023.
Bill was a lifelong horseman and cowboy. Bill enjoyed competing in steer wrestling, tie-down calf roping, and team roping. Bill was also a respected horseshoer/farrier who spent years perfecting his trade.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Viola (Hoffar) Haikey. Brothers Russell Leis and Jerry Lewis.
Bill is survived by his daughter Julie Haikey of Axtell, Texas and son Nathan and wife Ashli Haikey of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Four grandchildren, Anslea Haikey of Mission, Kansas, Olivia, Zachary, and Hadley Haikey of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Sisters, LaGatha Delaney of Edmond, Oklahoma and Connie Taylor of Decatur, Texas. Brother Johnny Haikey and wife Jina Haikey of Cedar City Utah. Nieces Christie Barnes and family of Yoakum, Texas and Meredith Taylor and family of Devine, Texas There will be a celebration of life on May 11th from 1-3 pm at Crossroads Community Church/ Corner Post Cowboy Church located at 52787 W Hwy 51, Jennings, OK 74038
