William Charles Baker

William “Bill” Charles Baker was born August 28, 1941, to William Harvey Baker and Helen Downey O’Neal in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He departed this life surrounded by family on April 30, 2024, at the age of 82 years.

Bill was raised in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1960. Following high school, he joined the United States Navy, where he was an aircraft control operator and had the opportunity to play baseball while serving.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Losey on March 4, 1966, and to this union three children, Denise, Kimberley and Jesse, were born.

Bill coached baseball for over 16 years, none of which were his kids; he coached football for over 4 years; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to OU football games but his true passion was spending time with his wife and his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Joyce; children, Denise Rodgers and husband, Warren, Kimberley Brooks and husband, Chris, and Jesse Baker; one brother, Sammy Weaver and wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Amanda Goforth and husband, Darrick, Samantha Frank and husband, Brandon, Jakob Stegall, Zane Brooks, Boden Brooks and Jackson Stegall; great-grandchildren, Taylor Flora and husband, Kaleb, Chloe Wright and husband, Kendall, Carsyn Frank, Ashlyn Goforth, Camdyn Frank and Bryson Goforth; great-great-grandson, Hutson Flora; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three sisters, Judith Baker, Patti Goza Crosby and Carolyn Johnson and in-laws, Jesse and Greta Losey.

Memorial services will be 2:00pm, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Olive First Baptist Church. The time will be determined soon.
