Gary Irving Murch, died at age 74, of Cushing, Oklahoma, passed on May 26th, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Gary was born on December 31st, 1949 in Tulare, California to Harvey and Gladys (Overacker) Murch.
Gary graduated high school at Exeter High School in 1968. Gary spent his teenage years picking fruit, almonds and various crops. He began building cabinets at the age of 16. He became a union carpenter for the State of California. He built custom cabinetry for multiple years with sons at his side teaching them along the way.
He began working for Lingo Construction in 2005 as craftsman, and detailed carpenter and quickly worked his way up as a superintendent; he worked with his boys on various projects and retiring June 3, 2022.
Gary married Tonya Fay Young on June 30th, 1972, to this union five children, Lacie Lemmon Gaskins, Garet Murch, Dakota Murch, Lana O’Bryan and Kaleb Murch, were born. Gary lost his wife, Tonya, in 1996. He later got together with Judy McGinnis in August of 2005 and married February 25, 2015. Through their marriage, he gained daughter Crystal Copeland.
Gary was Baptized to the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in 1977. He enjoyed having brethren in his home and sitting around and singing. It was an honor for the brethren’s kids to call him Papa, many did. As his own grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, he loved spending time with them, never missing a birthday or event.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Murch; siblings, Charles and Delores Murch of Dinuba, California, Judy and Randy Ward of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; children, Lacie and Reggie Gaskins of Terlton, Oklahoma, Garet Murch of Cushing, Oklahoma, Dakota Murch of Purcell, Oklahoma, Lana and Bryan O’Bryan of Lonsdale, Arkansas, Kaleb and Mary Murch of Purcell, Oklahoma, Jeremy Lemmon of Cushing, Oklahoma and Crystal and Mitch Copeland of Valley View, Texas; grandchildren, Dutch and Lauren Lemmon, Tennessee & Braden Boyle, Dane and Morgan Lemmon, Cruz Gaskins, Kylie Murch, Cody Jumper, Tonya Murch, Titus O’Bryan, Kasiah O’Bryan, Holly Pence, Gabby Meinen, Emily Meinen; greatgrandchildren, Asher, Kye, Noah, Nevaeh, Beau, Ellie, Noah and Nyla; and many nephews, nieces, brethren and friends. .
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Gladys Murch; siblings, Linda Murch, Dennis Murch, Carol Stevens, Jerry Murch, Vickie LaRue, wife, Tonya Fay Murch and granddaughter, Kaleah O’Bryan.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 in the Parkland Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6-8 in the Family Center.
