James “Jim” Darrell Shelton

James “Jim” Darrell Shelton, age 72, of Cushing, Oklahoma, passed from this life July 17, 2024, with his family by his side, following a diagnosis of Lymphoma on July 12, 2024.

Jim was born to Everett and Naomi Shelton on January 28, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up in Shamrock, Oklahoma and attended Shamrock and Drumright schools, graduating with the Drumright class of 1970.

Jim was united in marriage to Jeanette Vickers in 1983. He was employed for many years by Swinea Well Service as a rig operator, later taking a position as pumper for Chaparral Energy, now Canvas Energy.

He was a die-hard Oklahoma University and Yankees fan only to be surpassed by his love of watching his sons, Justin and Jake, play sports and following their sporting events all over the State of Oklahoma. Later in life enjoying his grandsons’ sporting events.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of the home; sons, Justin Shelton of Edmond and Jake Shelton and his wife Sara of Piedmont; grandsons, Lennox and August Shelton; Parks Shelton and his mother, Randilynn; brother, Gary Shelton; brother in law, Greg Burris; sister in law, Kennita Shelton and many other nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents Everett and Naomi Shelton; brother, Kenneth Shelton and sister, Judy Burris.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Tri-County Church of Christ. A brief interment was held at Euchee Valley Memorial Park, immediately following. A visitation was held on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
