STILLWATER - The Payne County Board of Commissioners Monday accepted the resignation of County Assessor James Cowan and appointed Jason Gomez to fill out Cowan’s current term which ends in 2026.
Gomez previously served as Cowan’s First Deputy, said District 1 Commissioner Zach Cavett.
The Commissioners approved a request for the State Auditor to do a Turnover Audit of the Assessor’s office.
