Janice Gale Clark

Janice Gale Clark, a beacon of warmth and generosity, passed away on September 10, 2024, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Born on December 11, 1946, in Yale, Oklahoma, she was a lifelong resident of the area, deeply rooted in the community she loved.

Janice’s life was characterized by her loving nature and her dedication to her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Howard Clark, who shared with her a life full of love and mutual respect. Her legacy continues through her children, Michael Clark and his wife, Lorrie, and Michelle Warnock and her husband, Robert, all of Yale. Janice’s joy was multiplied by her grandchildren: Katelyn Clark (Jaden Folden), Connor Clark (Allie Clark), Kascen Humble, Colt Humble, Janet Fortenberry (Adam Fortenberry), David Lee (Kassie Lee), Megan Morrow (Chris Anderson), Ty Morrow, Michael Warnock and Logan Warnock. Greatgrandchildren: Noah, Jaxson, Azlynne, Katy and Josie, who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and care.

Her siblings, Janey Hope and Thomas Hyatt of Tulsa, Patty Cramer and husband John of Tulsa, Carolyn Regen and husband Michael of Franklin, Tennessee, and sister-in-law Jackie Hope of Tulsa, will remember Janice as a guiding light in their lives. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom were touched by her thoughtful attention and loving guidance.

Janice’s educational journey began at Oilton High School, where she graduated with the class of 1965. She furthered her education with a year at Connors State College, which laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to learning and literacy.

For over five decades, Janice served as a librarian at the Yale Public Library, a role she embraced with passion and dedication. Her work extended beyond the library’s walls as she was an active member of the Friends of the Library and the Tennis Club. Janice’s love for books and her community shone brightly through her involvement in story hour at the library and her initiative in starting the Adult Literacy Program. She also enjoyed reading to students at Yale Public Schools, instilling in them a love for stories and knowledge.

Janice’s interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She found joy in gardening, canning the fruits of her labor, and playing tennis and softball. Her competitive spirit was matched only by her nurturing presence, especially when spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A longtime member of the Yale Church of God, Janice’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and her unwavering support for others Traveling with her family brought Janice immense pleasure, as she cherished the opportunity to create lasting memories with her loved ones. Whether exploring new places or revisiting favorite spots, she embraced every journey with enthusiasm and grace Janice was the embodiment of love and thoughtfulness. Her presence was a comfort to those around her, and her actions refl ected the depth of her care for others. She approached life with a gentle strength that inspired everyone Janice Gale Clark’s story is one of love, service, and the enduring impact one person can have on their community and family. She will be dearly missed, but her infl uence will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to Janice, we celebrate a life welllived, full of purpose, and overflowing with love. Her memory will be cherished and honored for generations to come.

Janice is preceded in death by both parents and one brother, David Hope.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Crossroads Community Church. A visitation was held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
