Our beautiful and loved Gwendolyn Kay Williams, 76 years of age, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 10, 2025. She was the third daughter and fifth child born to George L. Williams, Sr. and Luceta (Johnson) Williams in Cushing, Oklahoma on September 11, 1948.
Gwen Kay attended BTW School in Cushing. She graduated from Cushing High School in 1966. She also graduated from Okmulgee Tech in 1970, where she received her Certificate in Baking. Gwen’s first job was at Cushing Diner. She then went on to work at various places, such as Lucent Technology in Oklahoma City and the Cushing Nursing Home. Later, she took on the vital role as a custodian, where she retired from before her health began to fail.
She accepted Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church North in Cushing. She became a member of First Baptist Church South, where she loved singing in the church and attending every chance she could. Gwen also loved visiting Fellowship Baptist of Yale, Oklahoma with her dear friends, Ralph and Christ Hickman. Gwen Kay loved crosswords, jigsaw and word find puzzles. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed going shopping with Christi at Family Dollar and dollar General.
Gwen became the proud mother of her first-born son, Thomas Andrew Williams. She later mourned the loss of her second son, David Lamar Williams, who was born sleeping.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Thomas A. Williams; grandchildren Marley, Maddox and Mercy, all of Fairmont, Minnesota; her siblings, Harold (Wilma) Williams of Forest Park, Oklahoma, Jerry (Lisa) Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Flora (Eunice) Mann of Yukon, Oklahoma, Georgette Williams of Oklahoma City, and Brian (Imelda) Williams of Kermit, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and one aunt; and special friends to Gwendolyn, Christi and Ralph Hickman.
The family of Gwendolyn Kay Williams wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the many acts of kindness, cards, food, thoughtfulness, and most of all your prayers during this time of bereavement. The family would also like to express a special thank you to Linwood Nursing Home, Seasons Hospice, and First Baptist Church (South).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Funeral services began at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home chapel.
