James Roy Pickard (Jim) of Cushing, Oklahoma passed away from this life on April 9, 2024. Cremation has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Entombment of the ashes is left to his daughter. Lee Ann will release them in the wind from the pier in Oceanside, California.

Jim was born on August 9, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana to proud parents, Robert and Mildred Pickard. Jim grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from George Washington High School with the class of 1963. Jim married Linda Kay Kelso in June of 1968. This union was blessed with his two beautiful daughters, Lee Ann and Debra. Jim traveled the United States from 1964 to 1971 installing telephone switching and power systems for Bell System and Stromberg-Carlson. He worked as Installation Manager for Honeywell Protection Service from 1971 to 1979. In the winter of 1979, Jim and second wife, Lynn, moved to southern California, where he was employed by Pioneer Security Systems as Technical Services Manager. After retiring in 2009, he moved to Cushing, Oklahoma to be closer to his daughter.

He volunteered for several charities in San Diego County, CA including Boys and Girls Club, Recovery to Discovery Women’s Center, and Brother Benno’s Outreach. He was invited to join the San Clemente Lions Club in 1987 where he served as President, Treasurer, and Secretary. He is a life member of The California Lions Eye Institute. Jim moved his Lions membership to Cushing Lions Club in 2009 and served as President, Lion Tamer, and Director.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mildred Pickard and three wives: Linda, Lynn, and Valtraub.

He is survived by his daughters: Debra and husband Tracy Johnson of Cushing, OK and Lee Ann and husband Juan Angeles of San Juan Capistrano, CA; sister Donna Boyd of Lake Wales, FL; brother David Pickard of Montrose, CO; grandchildren, Natasha and Michael Stavroules; great grandchildren, Hunter and Autumn Stavroules.
