Gussie Lee (Moore) Johnson, 89, formerly of Cushing, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Illinois. Gussie, daughter of Nathaniel and Almetrice (Watson) Moore, was born on March 31, 1936, in Silver City, Oklahoma. She married Wilburn Johnson on December 22, 1957. Together, they celebrated 55 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2013. She is now reunited with her husband, five siblings, parents, and extended family. Surviving Gussie are her son, Tim, of Galesburg, Illinois; her sister, Beatrice Moore White, of Hayward, California; and several nieces and nephews. Gussie was a tireless worker who retired from her last position with RCB Bank in Cushing, Oklahoma, in October 2022. She was a lifetime member and deaconess of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Gussie was an avid seamstress and took pride in making her own clothes. She also devoted her time to gardening; cheering for the Oklahoma State University, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Kansas City Chiefs sports teams; cooking; and making friends with everyone she met. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 11:00 AM at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Stillwater, Oklahoma, or Gordon Behrents Senior Center, Galesburg, Illinois.
