Phyllis Ann Haskin was born on November 22, 1932, in Goltry, Oklahoma, where she was raised in a farming community during a time when life was simple, work was hard, and faith was a way of life. On July 4, 2026, Phyllis peacefully entered the presence of the Savior she had faithfully loved and served throughout her life. While her family grieves the loss of her gentle presence, they rejoice in knowing she has been reunited with Delbert and those who went before her. The lessons she taught, the faith she lived, the traditions she began, and the love she poured into every generation will continue long after her passing. As a young woman, Phyllis ventured from the family farm to Enid, Oklahoma, determined to build a life of her own. She worked wherever opportunity led her, including as a waitress, before beginning a career as a switchboard operator with Southwestern Bell. She would eventually retire from Southwestern Bell before later serving as a switchboard operator for OG&E. Whether serving customers, coworkers, or strangers, she believed every job deserved her full effort and every person deserved kindness and respect.
In 1951, Phyllis (“Philly” as her husband endearingly called her) married the love of her life, Delbert Donald Haskin. Together they built a marriage rooted in love, commitment, and shared faith. In 1965, they purchased a farm in Cushing and built a small cabin that would become one of the family’s most treasured places. Together they raised their family with unconditional love and sacrifice. Their children were Kirby Haskin, Don Haskin, Jackie Brockamp, and Dwight Haskin and were always her greatest priority.
Faith was the cornerstone of everything Phyllis did. For many years she faithfully worshipped at Oak Grove Baptist Church, where she lived out her belief that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. If there was one place that reflected Phyllis’s heart, it was her home. Phyllis also believed in serving others. She generously volunteered her time as a “Pink Lady” at the hospital, quietly caring for people she often had never met. She was the person people turned to when life became difficult. She listened without judgment, offered wisdom without criticism, and somehow always knew the right words to say.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Delbert Donald Haskin; her sons, Kirby Haskin and Don Haskin; her brothers, Jim Becker and Jack Becker; and her sister, Patty Slaughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Brockamp (Joe); her son, Dwight Haskin; her sister, Mary Jane Oberbay (Bill); her grandchildren, Bernadette McGuire (Michael), Katelyn Staley (Camren), Jon Ninness, Nathan Ninness (Haley), Jeffrey Haskin (Amber), Andrew Haskin, and Dustin Haskin (Angie); along with her cherished great-grandchildren, extended family, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
Those who knew and loved Phyllis are invited to join her family for a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 at Matherly Davis Funeral home in Cushing.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Crossway Church, 1214 E. North St, Cushing, Oklahoma with pastor Sonny Johnston officiating at 1 PM.
