McGuire homicide suspects due in court

Troy Wayne Shadowen Jr., 23, and Bridgett Nicole Barton, 28, both of Stillwater are scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing today, Wednesday, June 17, before Judge Katherine Thomas.

Both are charged with first-degree murder in the Feb. 17 death of Patrick McGuire, 40, in Cushing.

Just after 6:30, Monday, Feb. 17, the Cushing Public Safety Center received a call reporting a travel trailer on fire at 106 N Wade.

Emergency personnel arriving at the scene found McGuire deceased outside of the trailer.

Investigators believe the pair murdered McGuire, then set fire to the trailer in which he was living.

Video surveillance footage from a neighboring residence showed a number of people moving around outside the trailer at approximately 6 a.m., Monday, before the fire erupts on the east side of the trailer.

Moments later, the video shows a pickup come to a stop on Wade Street.

A person exited the vehicle and pulled McGuire’s body from the trailer.

Shadowen and Barton each asked for indigent defense.
