CUSHING — Cushing’s Lady Tigers showed exactly why season openers are dangerous things to judge too quickly, turning a sleepy third inning into a two-run jailbreak before Davenport answered with the sort of fourth inning that ruined everybody’s afternoon.

The Cushing Varsity Lady Tigers fastfuitch softball team just held its Orange and Black scrimmage last week. Orange was victorious, 6-4. The Lady Tigers’ first official game of the season will be Monday, Aug. 10, in Cushing, against Davenport at 6 p.m.

The Drumright 10 and Under baseball team, coached by Loren Barnett travelled to the Cushing District Tournament. The winner of the tournament would go to state.The first game of the tournament was against Kiefer.

Zero. That is how many runs were scored against the Cushing Lady Tigers 12U Softball team this season, while they scored 176 runs against their opponents over 14 games. Needless to say, these girls dominated the 12U league and came away champions.
