Some of the actors from “The Third Day” sunrise Easter pageant in 1937 were (from left) W.V. Russell as a Roman soldier, Mrs. J.E. Cushing residents may remember a rock structure in Memorial Park fondly referred to as “the cave” or “the tomb” but many may not know what the purpose of that carefully assembled pile of stones was.
Located directly east of the 5th and Little Street entrance to the park, the native stone structure was constructed in 1937 to serve as a tomb which was used in Cushing’s fi rst Easter Sunrise Service a…
