DRUMRIGHT — On Aug. 3, 18-year-old Brent Hay and 15-year-old Will Julian went to work at Simple Simon’s in Drumright just as they had many times before, however, they were unprepared for the unusual request one individual had.

STILLWATER– Over the last month, evidence of WNV activity has increased across the state and is now considered widespread. Positive mosquito pools have been identified in many regions of Oklahoma.WNV spreads through the bite of an infected mosquito.

• Use an insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or IR3535 on exposed skin and clothing when going outdoors, particularly between dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are more likely to bite. Insect repellent with permethrin should be used on clothing only.

SILVER CITY — Friday and Saturday the skies southwest of Keystone Lake were hazy, and the scent of smoke hung in the air.According to Silver City Volunteer Fire Chief Brett Whitten, his department was monitoring two prescribed burns on back to back days.
