Fair board filing Jan 23-27

The Payne County Board of Commissioners set the filing dates of Jan. 23-27 for the Payne County Fair Board, and, if needed, the election date of Feb. 6. All candidate filings are at the Payne County Clerk’s office. Voting in District 1 will be held at the Payne County Barn at 1502 E.

Year in Review 2022 Pt. 2

It’s time to prepare for the upcoming new year and what better way to do that than to take a look back and appreciate the one we just had? Here’s the second half of the year 2022 in review.

House fire flares and extends

Several hours after a building fire at 232 S. Cleveland Avenue, which initially started on Dec. 25, had been extinguished it flared up leading to the displacement of at least three people, according to Cushing Fire Department Chief Derek Griffith.
Cushing Masonic Lodge Worshipful Master Sean Martin presents a check for $5,279.70 to Lee Roy Kalka, Cushing Regional Hospital Foundation president. The funds will be used to help pay tuition for Cushing firemen who want to attend Central Tech's paramedic certification program. Fire Chief offers cold weather safety tips

For Christmas, the Cushing Fire Department members received four structure fire dispatches said Fire Chief Derek Griffith, when discussing the cold front that started midway through last week.
