Senate Review

Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat recently announced his committee appointments for the 59th Legislature, which will include the 2023 and 2024 legislative sessions. Some are appointments for positions I’ve previously held, while I also have some new assignments.

Lady Tigers lose to 12th-ranked Pirates in Mannford

On Friday, the Cushing Lady Tigers traveled to Mannford and discovered why the 6-1 Lady Pirates are the 12th-ranked team in 4A basketball. Constant defensive pressure from the Lady Pirates held the Lady Tigers to just 15 first half points.

The members of Cushing Public School Board of Education met recently to discuss and/or take action on a variety of agenda items including a special board meeting that initially included a due process hearing for a dismissed employee.

More than 180 of Ripley Public School’s first through sixth grade students visited Cushing’s Dunkin Theatre to enjoy a day at the movies on Wednesday, Dec. 14 after they were able to reach their personal Accelerated Reader point goal during the first semester of school.

City Wide Recreational Master Plan Completed and Adopted

The regular meeting of the Cushing Board of Commissioners was held on Monday, Dec. 19 with a resolution adopting the City Wide Recreational Master Plan 2022 approved during. The plan has been an ongoing topic of discussion for the past year with CLS & Associates, LLC selected on Sept.

The Cushing Chamber of Commerce’s “There’s Gnome Place Like Cushing for Christmas” parade happened Saturday, Dec. 10 in conjunction with special holiday sales and the Downtown Cushing Revitalization Association’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
