Small quake hits near Cushing

A small earthquake bumped through Cushing Monday just after 4 p.m. The temblor, which was centered just northwest of the intersection of Eseco Road and Linwood, at a depth of 4.8 miles, registered as a fairly weak magnitude 2.2, but was felt in downtown Cushing.

COVID-19 Update

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, as of Wednesday, April 7, Oklahoma had 10,152 active cases of COVID-19 — a 5-percent drop over the past week. There have been 440,223 total cases since testing began with 423,402 recovered and 6,669 deaths attributed to the virus.

Students from both Payne and Creek Counties were named winners in the OSU Ag in the Classroom 2021 Ag Day Poster Contest. With over 1500 students participating, students across the state submitted posters they created depicting the theme for the year.

Triple fatality accident remains under investigation

A Saturday night wreck near Perkins killed three people and caused critical injuries to two more. Among the dead at the scene were two children. According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Garrison, the collision occurred at 10:48 p.m.

Payne County Jail passes inspection

The Payne County Commissioners Monday learned the Payne County Jail recently passed its inspection by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. District 2 Commissioner Chris Reding said the DOC inspector came last month to inspect the jail. “It (inspection) got high marks,” Reding said.
