Payne County EDA extends Dunkin grant

The Payne County Economic Development Authority Tuesday approved a grant extension for the Dunkin Theatre, located at 207 E. Broadway in Cushing. The original grant was for $15,000 said District 1 Commissioner Zach Cavett. “They were granted an extension to that until June,” Cavett said.

Tryon blaze destroys home

A resident of Tryon arriving home from work at around 10:30 p.m. Monday, noticed smoke and fl ames coming from a house across the street and called 911. By the time fi refighters arrived on scene the home at 14 S. First Street was fully engulfed in flames.

Rural Roads in Payne County experiencing blowouts

District 1 Payne County Commissioner Zach Cavett said that due to melting snow on rural roads, his crews are experiencing blowouts, which are a result of the base course of the road becoming muddy and decenterated, or spread out, weakening the base so that it will not support heavier traffic.

Troopers rescue motorist from icy creek

OHP Troopers Derek Fry and Lieutenant Ty Owen worked together last week to save a woman’s life after her car went into a creek south of Perry. The incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 15, on State Highway 86, in Payne County.
