UK debt crisis: A warning sign for the world

I was in Las Vegas over the weekend for the Eagles concert and had to walk through casinos to get to restaurants. I was shocked to see signs saying the casino takes credit cards. Instead of stopping their gambling, people were moving on from cash to credit and continuing to spend with abandon.

The weight of human life

America... I’ve never felt more separated from a country I’ve loved in all of my life. I don’t identify with any political party, as I’m a devout libertarian, but I do identify with the weight of human life. Have we truly gotten to a place where we celebrate the murder or harm of a fellow human?

Area schools gather for suicide prevention presentation

CUSHING — Cushing Public Schools hosted an area-wide Suicide Prevention Presentation on Sept. 9, bringing together students from 10 middle and junior high schools across the region.

City approves alert system

CUSHING — The Cushing Board of Commissioners has approved the purchase of new emergency communication software aimed at better communication with residents during critical situations.Assistant City Manager Derek Griffin said the city has seen firsthand the need for the purchase.
