Cushing School District prepares for the future

CUSHING — The most recent meeting of the Cushing Public School Board of Education resulted in a number of matters being approved that aimed to improve efficiency and upgrade facilities, according to Superintendent Melissa Amon.

New Faces, Familiar Leadership at Cushing City Commission’s Organizational Meeting

CUSHING — It was a morning of fresh starts and familiar faces Monday, as the Cushing City Commission held its annual organizational meeting. At the onset of formalities, newly elected commissioners Ron Lamb and Geoff Beasley took the oath of office, administered by Municipal Judge Bill Ahrberg.

Cops corral copper thieves

STILLWATER — Two men and three women, who reportedly lived together in Cushing, have been jailed pending their court appearance this week on charges of possessing stolen copper wire specific to AT&T telephone and utility lines.

County Commission approves contracts

STILLWATER - The Payne County Board of Commissioners on Monday approved a City of Perkins Jail service agreement between the City of Perkins and Board of Commissioners.District 1 Commissioner Zach Cavett said the agreement is to house inmates for $27 a day.

Over a dozen volunteers met at Cushing City Hall on April 27 for the local Great American Clean Up (GACU) project led by Cushing Pride. Cushing Pride organizes the local project for the GACU initiative annually. Statewide it is a collaborative effort between Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and is part of a larger initiative to clean and beautify the state.
