Longtime Yale resident Barbara Sherman passed away March 15, 2021, at the age of 82.
She was born August 30, 1938, in a farmhouse west of Yale to Leroy and Daisy (Ellington) Sneed.
At the age of 19 she met and married the love of her life, Duane Sherman. They spent 49 eventful years together, 47 of which they built and worked a farm. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother to two sons and one daughter.
She was both a caretaker and provider for her family. She worked 23 years as a bookkeeper doing clerical work and then 19y ears at the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. In 2000, Barbara was able to retire and enjoy loving on and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
This also allowed her to devote more time to teaching Sunday School and serving the Women’s Ministry. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading and sewing.
Barbara and several family members attended Yale Assembly of God where she made many dear friends.
Barbara is survived by her three children Gary, LaDonna and Larry; three brothers, Leslie, Richard and Mark Sneed; seven grandchildren Christina Rhotenberry, Baylee Sherman, Troy Thompson, CD Thompson, JoAnna Thompson, James Sherman and Christopher Sherman; as well as 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Duane Sherman; her parents Leroy and Daisy Sneed; brother Paul Brian and sister Patricia Gazaway. Arrangements by Dillon Funeral Service, Sand Springs, Okla.
