Bettie Wickett

Bettie Wickett, long time Cushing resident, passed from this life on Monday, April 25, 2022, at her home surrounded by family at the age of 86.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 300 E. Moses, Cushing, OK. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home.

Bettie was born on December 25, 1935, at her home outside of Cushing to Vernon and Virgie (Wright) Anderson. Bettie grew up and attended school in Cushing. After school, Bettie worked at Christine’s Café. She then moved to Pleasanton, California working at horse racetracks. After many years returned to Cushing working at Christine’s Café and eventually retiring from Valley Hope. Bettie enjoyed fishing, spending time with friends, and spent many countless evenings playing bingo and at the casino. When she was away from work, Bettie was making memories with her family. She loved to cook for her kids and grandkids. There was never an empty stomach at her house. Bettie’s greatest joys were her family, she spent many afternoons with her grandchildren and great grandchildren in the park playing and feeding the ducks at the duck pond.

Bettie was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed. Bettie is preceded in death by both parents, her daughter, Melody Wickett, and five siblings, Johnny Anderson, Donald Ray Anderson, JoAnne Dunlap, Barbara “Bobbie” Thompson, and Janie Anderson. Bettie is survived by one son, Randy Wickett and wife, Loretta; three grandchildren and their families, Kelli Wickett, Ashli DiLorenzo and husband, Trevor with their two kids, Breeli and Kayler, Matt Stein and wife, Valarie with their six kids, Brittany, Tiara, Makayla, Tiffany, Corbin, and Keigan; five siblings, Jimmie Anderson and wife, Bernice, Ronnie Anderson and wife, Judy, Tommy Anderson and wife, Wava, Joyce Wilson and husband Joe, Alice Jones and husband, Tom.
