Funeral services for Oak Grove resident Billie Mahaney, will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2022 in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Okmulgee Cemetery at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Funeral services are entrusted to the care of Michael’s Funeral Home of Drumright. Billie was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on June 22, 1945, the daughter of the late Melvin W. Snelson & Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Morrison) Snelson. She passed from this life in Stillwater on February 24, 2022 at the age of 76 years, 8 months, & 1 day. Billie was raised & educated in Okmulgee & was a 1963 graduate of Okmulgee High School. She married James Ray Mahaney in Okmulgee on October 24, 1964 & they raised a family of 2 children. Billie had lived the majority of her life in Okmulgee. She had worked at the Okmulgee Tag Agency for several years & also as a beautician. Following her husband’s death in 2012, she moved to Oak Grove. She enjoyed painting, bird watching, making jewelry, & spending time with her family. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by a sister: Barbara Evans.
Her remaining family includes a Daughter: Trisha Shoemake & husband Dr. Stuart Shoemake of Oak Grove; a Son: James Ray Mahaney, Jr. & wife Wendy of North Carolina; Grandchildren: Ryan & Myriah Shoemake – Aaron Shoemake – Tyler Mahaney - & Trevor Mahaney; Great Grandson: William Adler Mahaney Shoemake; plus other relatives & friends.
