Calista Lafern (Morrow) Ander- son, 84, of Cushing, Oklahoma, peacefully passed from this life into Jesus' loving arms on August 10, 2024, after a
long battle with cancer.
Calista was born on October 22, 1939, to Russell Charles Morrow and Olive Laverna (Brotherton) Morrow in Drumright, Oklahoma.
Calista married Buford Leon Anderson on August 4, 1956, which was ov ciated by her grandmother, Reverend Sadie Fincher. While they could not have children of their own, they opened their hearts and home to their son, Thomas Ray Anderson.
Calista was a beacon of light in her community. She touched so many lives. She lived for her family, friends, faith, and, of course, food. She was a legendary cook, and even people who didn't know her personally knew of her cooking! She loved to garden and sew.
One of her favorite past times in her later years was sharing meals with her friends at the Agra Senior Center. She also thoroughly enjoyed “going to music” there.
Calista didn't know how to slow down. She had an incredible work ethic that always drove her to do more. She was kind and generous, with not only her resources, but also her time. She had the heart of a caregiver. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her!
Calista is survived by her son, Thomas (Anitta) Anderson; her grandchildren, Brandy (Alex) Poiry; Ashley (Justin) Davis; Teresa (Chris) Glenn; Nathan (Roxie Lee) Clark; Stormie (Zach) Truster; and Madison (Steven Matteson) Gregory; her numerous great grandchildren, Hannah Toops; Fiona Poiry; Samuel Redding; Felix Poiry; Anderson Poiry; Hope Davis; Jewel Davis; Lillie Price; Grayson Price; Ariel Truster; Aiden Truster; Damien Clark; Cybil Clark; Coby Clark; Liam Matteson; Max Matteson; and Vada Jo Matteson; and her numerous other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Buford Anderson; her siblings, Finley Morrow and Kaye McBride; and her parents, Russell Morrow and Olive Morrow.
Calista's memorial service will be held at the Agra First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of fl owers, the family requests donations be sent to the Agra Senior Citizens Center.
