Clara Louise Christian Hughes, age 88, passed away January 4, 2021, in Tulsa, OK, after experiencing a stroke. She was born August 18, 1932, to Roy and Ruth Christian, in Purcell, OK. Clara graduated from Cushing High School, Cushing, OK, in 1950, and attended Oklahoma A&M, Stillwater, OK. Clara married Hal Horton Hughes, February 20, 1955, and they resided in Cushing until moving to Tulsa, OK, in 2014.
Clara is preceded in death by her husband, Hal, her parents Roy and Ruth Christian, Cushing, OK, in-laws Maynard C. Hughes and Bonnie Horton Hughes, Cushing, OK, and niece Allison Claybaker Williams, The Woodlands, TX.
Survivors include sons Mark C. Hughes and wife Mary Lee, New Orleans, LA, and Paul C. Hughes, Tulsa, OK; two grandsons, Declan P. Hughes, New Orleans, LA, and Colin C. Hughes, Salida, CO; her sister Lois Mahan, Tulsa, OK., her sister-in-law, Bette Banks Hughes-Hubbard, Chandler, OK; her niece, Sue Rachels, Tulsa OK; and nephew Ben Claybaker and wife Dawn of Marlin, TX.
