Daniel “Dan” Wade Watkins passed from this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Oklahoma City with his wife and son by his side. Dan was 56.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Agra High School Gymnasium.
Dan was born on July 22, 1965 to Lonnie “Max” and Margaret “Maggy” (Ramsey) Watkins in Cushing, OK. He was raised in Agra, where he attended school, excelling in basketball. Dan graduated from Agra High School in 1983. He soon found work with the company Armstrong for 28 years. He later began a new career with the City of Cushing, where he was loved by many, until his passing.
Dan married Shelley Boles on October 13, 1990 at the Agra Baptist Church. They had one loving son together, Dillon. Dan and Shelley loved to get out and see all they could together. They would often get in the car and drive wherever the road would take them.
Dan was a true Oklahoma Sooner’s football fan. He knew every player, including position and the year they played. Dan also had an entrepreneur’s spirit. He loved coming up with business ideas, and would spend countless hours expanding his knowledge in order to execute them.
Dan was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He will be missed by all. Dan is survived by his wife of 30 years, Shelley Watkins; one son, Dillon Watkins and wife, Kaitlyn; mother, Margaret Watkins; and brother, Derick Watkins and wife Nannette.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Max Watkins.
