Delbert Wolff

Delbert Neal Wolff, longtime Yale resident passed from this life on October 2, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Delbert was born on December 6, 1956, in Cushing, Oklahoma to proud parents Harold and Hannah Belva Jane (Bobo) Wolff. He was raised in Kendrick attending Happy Valley school, then Stroud High School graduating with the class of 1975. Delbert then attended NEO and OSU graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education. While attending college he met a girl that forever changed his life, Ms. Susan Ann Walker. The two of them were united in marriage on July 8, 1978, at the First Baptist Church in Chelsea, Oklahoma and would share almost 36 wonderful years together. Delbert’s first job as an Ag teacher was in Grandfield, OK until 1986 when he was hired as an Ag teacher in Yale, Oklahoma where he would spend the remainder of his career. The family put down roots in Yale, raising their children Amber and Travis. Delbert was a man of faith and instilled that reverence towards God in his children. They shared many wonderful memories going on camping trips, hunting and fishing, as well as processing all their wild game as a family. They smoked their own German sausage using family recipes that are still being passed down.

Mr. Wolff, as his students called him, was a gifted teacher who truly cared about each of his students. If a child wanted to have an animal to show but didn’t have the budget, he would move mountains to make it happen. He had a genuine ability to connect with students who were struggling or going through difficult times. Using different tools or skills he would mentor them, and no doubt changed the path of many of their lives.

After retirement and Susie’s passing, Delbert busied himself with being the best grandfather he could be. He was president and founder of the “good boys club” with his grandsons being inducted as founding members. They went on numerous camping and fishing trips together. Delbert attended most every sporting event they had and loved spending time with them. When not chasing the grandkids, he could be found tinkering on his tractor or repairing small engines (but probably was off on a fishing trip with one of his buddies.)

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Susan Ann; brother-in-law and best friend, Sam Hickman; and a niece, Crystal Wolff-Elliott.

He is survived by his children, Amber and husband Seth Locke of Bristow, OK, and Travis and wife Sunni Wolff of Tulsa, OK; grandsons and good boys club members, Asher Wolff and Kahle Locke; siblings, Sherman and Margaret Wolff of IL, Jane Jacob of Perkins, OK, Leona and Layne Burton of Perkins, OK, and Marcia Hickman of Perkins, OK; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing. The family will be present to greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Yale Assembly of God, 777 Glory Road Yale, OK with burial to follow at Underwood Cemetery; Bro. Mich Dershem to officiate.
