On Friday, March 25, 2022, Donald Ray Beene of Cushing, Oklahoma, loving husband, father, and grandfather went home to rest in the arms of his Lord and savior Jesus Christ at the age of 86. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the Cushing Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
Don was born May 23, 1935, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was raised by his parents, Edgar, and Mabel Beene. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1954. He began his career in the newspaper business at the Cushing Daily Citizen and later publisher of the Drumright News Derrick Journal in 1978 as well as manager of the New Art Prints in Cushing and Drumright. He was also publisher for the Lake Keystone News.
He married the love of his life, Donna Kautz Niccum on June 13, 1983, in Hot Springs, Arkansas joining together their families and was blessed with over 38 years of marriage.
Don and Donna moved to Bristow and started D&D office supply in 1984, working side by side for 26 years before retiring in 2010 and moving back to Cushing. Don loved the outdoors, gardening, and mowing. He was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan. He also enjoyed going to gospel concerts, traveling to Branson, and tinkering in his shop. His kind heart and warm smile will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; one son, David Ray Beene; one daughter, LeaAnn Ladd of Cushing; two stepdaughters, Toni McEntire of Cushing, and Teri Akins of Perkins; Ten grandchildren and Eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Jurine Wise, Christina Crutchfield, Leona Segura, and Beulah Martindale; Five brothers, Clifford, Roma, Wallace, Eugene and Cleo Martin and one stepbrother Junior Monroe. Services are under the direction of Matherly Davis Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
