Donnie Ray Sollars, 70, of Cushing, Oklahoma passed away on January 19, 2022.
Donnie was born December 19, 1951, to Colleen and Cletus Sollars in Cushing, Oklahoma. As a young man Donnie enjoyed hunting, fi shing, motorcycles, and cars. Donnie assisted in running his family business with his mother and father. Donnie married his wife, Lou Ann Jeske on July 19, 1974, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Donnie and Lou Ann had one son, David Sollars.
Donnie attended Wilson Elementary in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High in 1970. Donnie graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1976 with a degree in Agricultural Education. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree, Donnie began working for Phillips 66, and later Conoco Phillips. Donnie worked for 35 years in the oil and gas pipeline industry. Donnie retired in 2012 at the age of 59.
Donnie loved the outdoors and spent many hours working the land and cattle of his family’s farm. Hunting, fi shing, and shooting were some of favorite activities with him.
Donnie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cushing, Oklahoma for many years. He was known for being a kind, compassionate and helpful member of the congregation-regularly going out of his way to put others’ needs before his own.
Donnie is survived by his wife Lou Ann Sollars of Cushing, Oklahoma; son David Sollars of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Aunt Sue England of Marble Falls, Texas; cousins Mike and Linda Edwards, Dan and Debbie Edwards, Melody Edwards and her Husband David Stubblefi eld, Robby Douglas, and wife Kerry.
Viewing will be held Sunday, January 23, 2022, in the Matherly-Davis Chapel from the hours of 2PM to 6PM. A memorial service is pending currently. A Committal Service is being held at 2PM Monday, January 24, 2022 at Euchee Valley Memorial Park. Social Distancing must be practiced and masks are going to be mandatory, per the family’s request. Services are under the direction of Matherly-Davis Funeral Home.
