Dora Sue Funk was born September 1, 1938 to Louis Henderson and Tranie Elizabeth Walding Henderson in Dalhart, Texas. She departed this life on January 4, 2023 at the age of 84 years in Drumright, Oklahoma; the family was blessed to have many great experiences with Dora in her final days, including her witty personality.
Dora was raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico and graduated from Carlsbad High School. Dora was known to be a hard worker; she held many different jobs while also being a single mother. She enjoyed sewing clothes, going on walks and being very active in church activities, including playing the piano. She was the last original member of the Happy Valley Baptist Church in Carlsbad. She was known for her knowledge of biblical scripture; she didn’t have it all memorized like her mother but she was close. Her favorite scripture was Romans 8:38-39.
Dora is survived by her children, William Brent Funk and wife, Tammy, of Hobbs, New Mexico, Joe Mark Funk and wife, Merret, of Phoenix, Arizona, Susan Beth Carroll and husband, David, of Cushing and William Kyle Funk of Carlsbad, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, Keisha Huffman and husband, Chase, Ryan Moline and wife, Tabi, Rex Moline, Tommy Funk, Brianna Jonas and husband, Travis, Zachary Funk, Jacob Funk and Rebekah Funk; three greatgrandchildren, Mellie Jonas, Cecilia Jonas and Carter Huffman; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise and Fay; five brothers, Gary, Bill, Jr. Louis, Leon and Nolan In lieu of flowers family is asking any donations to be made to a favorite charity or Church.
