Doris Irene Worthington

November 1, 1927 - September 2, 2021

Doris Irene Worthington was born November 1, 1927, to Ernest and Etheline Dooley in Cushing, Oklahoma. She departed this life September 2, 2021at the age of 93.

She attended and graduated from Haskell Indian School. She was off ered a scholarship from the prestigious MIT but turned it down because it was too far away from home. Although she stood him up on their fi rst date, in 1945 she was united in marriage to Wesley Worthington. She worked as a nurse retiring at age 77 from Linwood Village Nursing Home

She wasn’t the most social person but loved reading books, so much so, she could read a 600-page book in one day. She also loved doing crossword puzzles. She enjoyed watching the news and subscribed to every newspaper available. News clippings and the newest detective mystery occupied her mind most of the of her days. She also loved the Oklahoma Sooners and sports in general. Most importantly she gave her heart to Jesus Christ as an early child with her father by her side at the altar.

She is survived by one sister, Clarita Yost; two grandchildren, Shelley Snow and Heather Davidson; fi ve great grandchildren and fi ve great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three children, Karen Worthington, Nancy Boatman, William Worthington; brother, Claude Dooley; sister, Ernestine Dooley as well as many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 6:00pm, Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Avery Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Matherly Davis Funeral Home.
