Doris Lea Walters, lifelong Cushing resident, passed from this life on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Perkins, OK. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Big Creek Church of Brethren.
Doris was born on October 26, 1937 to Bryan and Earlena (Mandeville) Harmon in Cushing, OK. Doris grew up in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1955.
Doris married Guy Walters on May 16, 1958. Together they had one child, Michael. Doris and Guy were married 39 years before he passed away in 1997.
Doris was a lifelong member of Big Creek Church of the Brethren. She was active in all events the church hosted. She loved being outside fishing or gardening, and staying inside to crochet and read. She worked for Big Four Petroleum in Cushing for 30+ years before retiring.
Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed.
Doris is survived by her son, Mike Walters and wife, Sara, and her granddaughter, Makenna Walters. She also leaves behind siblings, Ruby and husband Ken Parnell, Roy and wife JoAnn Harmon, Darrell and wife Sara Harmon, Carol and husband Jayson Dobson, Margaret Bryant, sister-in-law, Debbie Harmon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three siblings, Gene Harmon, Lawrence Harmon, and Verna Ledgerwood.
