Robert D’Waynne Mullins, age 58, passed away, far too young, on Friday, March 11, 2022. Robert was born on September 19, 1963 in Dallas, TX.
Robert was a graduate of Parker College of Chiropractic, in Dallas in 1995. After graduation he accepted a position as an Associate Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at the same school, where he then taught for seven years. He also received the honor of being selected by the 1999 graduating class of the college as the Outstanding Basic Science Instructor.
Robert transitioned into practicing chiropractic after moving to the Pacific Northwest area in 2001. In 2008 they moved to Cushing, OK where he opened Natural Choice Chiropractic. He was actively involved in the community and served in leadership positions of various organizations. He was President of the Rotary Club 2012-2013 and led the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as chairman in 2012, as well. He was especially proud of the expansion to Rotary Park while he served as President of that organization. He also served as a board member of Cushing Hospital for some time.
Robert’s chiropractic patients were an important part of his life. He viewed his patients as more than a part of his practice. He saw them as friends and he loved being able to help them feel better and live healthier and happier lives. His patients loved him as well. It was not at all uncommon for them to bring him fresh produce and vegetables from their gardens and share meat from their own barns or eggs from their henhouses.
Robert’s personal hobbies included Karate, equestrian sports, playing guitar, and he especially enjoyed building cigar box guitars. He achieved his Black Belt in Shorei-Kan Goju-ryu Budo Kaisai, which is a form of Karate, and most recently had been actively competing in Working Equitation, a relatively new equestrian sport. Both Robert and Amy were involved with the Central Plains Dressage Society and participated in local equestrian events. Robert was always an animal lover and had a dog or cat in his life from the time he was a child.
Robert was a devoted husband and family man. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending quality time with them. They loved taking vacations, playing board games and video games, and watching TV together as a family. Robert’s life revolved around his family and he will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Amy Mullins of Cushing, OK, his daughter, Cassidy Mullins and son, Logan Mullins, both of Cushing, OK; his father, Bobby D’Waynne Mullins of Cushing; his mother, Gloria Bost, Dallas, TX; sister, Ronda Carnahan, Southlake, TX; two nephews, several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 17, at 2:00 pm at Shawnee Trail Church of Christ, 10633 John W. Elliott Dr., in Frisco, TX. A family visitation will also be held from 2:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, March 19 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Plains Dressage Society, 3420 E. 40th St., Edmond, OK, 73013, checks payable to CPDS.
