Har vey Alan Slade was born on July 31, 1955, to Harvey Adele Slade and Mary Lou (Adams) Slade in Cushing, Oklahoma. He departed this life on October 25, 2023, at the age of 68 years.
Harvey was raised in the Cushing area, graduating from Ripley High School with the class of 1973. He had perfect attendance as a child at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Harvey Alan Slade and Jalene Gail Coward were united in marriage on November 15, 2003, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
He retired from Spinello Construction Company where he was a master skilled heavy equipment operator. Harvey enjoyed gardening, boating and genealogy. Harvey & Jalene also served as foster parents. His true passion was in raising, showing and developing Labradors into AKC Grand Champion Labradors.
Harvey was always a gentleman and loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Jalene, of the home; two sisters, Kathryn Smith of Lampasas, TX and Margaret Slade of Sands Springs, OK. Sister in law; Kathy Gosnell and husband Hurshell, Jr.Cushing. Nieces; Apryl Harden and husband Wes-Sulphur, OK, Megan Gosnell and wife Kimberly Frye-Houston, TX. Great Niece; Hannah Harden. Great Nephews; Dylan Harden, Dexter Layne and Jackson Layne.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Slade who passed in 1998, and mother, Mary Lou Slade in 2012. And one brotherin-law, Irling Smith.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 2:00PM in the Chapel of the Matherly-Davis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends prior to service, from 1:00 – 2:00. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
